The hard talk will be based on several historical examples: the trial of Socrates and the fact that the indictment was made based on rumours and slander; Shakespearean soliloquies on the fatal powers of slander; Cervantes' satirical "The Dialogue of the Dogs" with its theory that rumours could perhaps be the fundamental function of language… Following these historical references, the conversation will touch upon the cataclysmic power of rumours, enabled by contemporary media and social networks as well as politics, which is increasingly more reliant on the power of rumours.
